Legend told about  the young indigenous Nosara living in Nicoya, who married the sorcerer king of Matambu. The great treasures of his kingdom led his rival to betray him by wounding him with an arrow. The king, avoiding death, decided to become a stone sculpture that carried the soul of his ancestors in its center and was hidden by Nosara on the ocean shore.
